Regular-season game: Blitzing Beasts edge out Fraggles (1 December 2009)
Season I, week 1: SimKonville Fraggles 22, Dicey Beasts 23 (Final)Two big TD runs, a fierce pass rush and a controversial coaching decision helped the Dicey Beasts beat the SimKonville Fragges by the minimum margin.
The Beasts' RBs ran for 263 yds and three scores and their defenders registered seven sacks for 49 yds as they came from behind in the fourth quarter to claim victory in this All-Australian matchup.
The Beasts opened the score on a 66-yd run late in the first quarter and took a 9-6 halftime lead. They extended their lead on a 12-yd scoring run in the middle of the third quarter before the Fraggles struck back on a 76-yd catch-and-run TD.
Early in the fourth quarter, the Fraggles scored nine points within only a few seconds. They scored a safety when the Beasts' punt returner tried to outrun the Fraggles' tacklers through his own end zone but failed. The Fraggles return man did a better job than his counterpart returning the ensuing safety kick 76 yds for a TD.
Instead of going for the two-point conversion to make it a one-touchdown-plus-extra-point lead, the Fraggles' coach decided to go for the extra point which turned out a mistake when the Beasts reclaimed the lead on a 61-yd run with five minutes left to play. The Fraggles got the ball back twice but the Beasts held on to the victory.
