Regular-season game: Silentknights escape huge comeback bid (16 January 2010)
Season I, week 2: Dicey Beasts 37, silentsound's Silentknights 58 (Final)silentsound's Silentknights (1-1) and the Dicey Beasts (1-1) scored a combined 95 points at the Silent Field Stadium. The 'Knights pulled a comfortable 58-37 win but pretty much had their nerves wrecked by their opponents during the game.
The 'Knights recovered well from their season-opening loss in another very-high-scoring game. Again, all three units contributed to their scoring output as they scored on a kickoff return, a fumble return and a 100-yd interception return. With the latter, the 'Knights stormed ahead 34-3 late in the second quarter.
The Beasts had opened the score on a FG before the 'Knights scored 34 unanswered points within less than 20 minutes. The Beasts' next two possessions lasted only one play each: an 85-yd TD run and a 70-yd TD pass to quickly cut the deficit to 17 points.
The 'Knights opened the second half with a 36-yd FG. Their kicker converted only 3-of-6 FG attempts adding to the nervousness as the big lead melted down more and more. The Beasts scored TDs on their next four posessions to come within a touchdown twice. In between, the 'Knights return man scored his second kickoff-return TD in as many games.
When the 'Knights lost a fumble, the Beasts took over at their own 33 having all the momentum on their side. But the 'Knights finally put their nervousness aside and stood tall forcing a three-and-out. A 60-yd run on the first play of their next possession set up a 3-yd TD run to all but finish the Beasts' comeback bid.
The 'Knights RBs ran for a total of 356 yds and three TDs. The Beasts terrorized the 'Knights with their no-huddle offense during their comeback bid and racked up a total of 577 yds on total offense.
