Cup game: Independent Niners Sparrows reach SDC semis (5 October 2012)
SDC I - QF: Dicey Beasts 0, Niners Sparrows 3 (Final/5:36)After 5:36 minutes, their kicker let the ball split the uprights from 43 yds out to send independent Niners Sparrows to the QFL Sudden-Death Cup semifinals at the expense of the Dicey Beasts.
In the longest quarter final of this competition both teams had two possessions. The Beasts got the ball first and the teams traded three-and-outs.
It was the bad field position combined with a turnover that proved costly for the Beasts. They had to start their second possession from their own 13-yd line and on 3rd-and-10, their QB was picked off giving the Sparrows the ball in field-goal range.
After running for no gain twice, the Sparrows sent out their kicker on third down to clinch a spot in the semis where they will visit QFL champions duffeldoffel's Reds.
