Regular-season game: Too little, too late for the 'Knights (8 May 2012)
Season II, week 3: silentsound's Silentknights 17, igorz malfunxionistz 24 (Final)silentsound's Silentknights (0-3) drove an exciting comeback bid at the breakdown dome but in the end lost 24-17 to igorz malfunxionistz (2-1).
The 'Knights started well scoring a 29-yd field goal on their first possession and finished the game with two touchdown in the final four minutes. But in between, they allowed the Malfs to score 24 unanswered points which proved too much to overcome.
After conceding an early field goal, the Malfs replied with consecutive TD drives. Their QB threw a 21-yd TD pass to cap a 75-yd drive and then a 2-yarder capitalizing from a fumble recovery. Early in the second quarter, their RB ran in from 2 yds out.
The Malfs' QB completed 25-of-34 for 264 yds, two scores and a 115.3 passer rating. For the second consecutive week, he registered a 100+ passer rating.
Early in the third quarter, the Malfs kicker connected from 43 yds out to complete his teams' scoring tally but he also had two misses.
The 'Knights' QB scored on a 5-yd TD pass with 4:12 left to play to cut his teams' deficit to 14 points. The 'Knights failed to recover their own onside kick but their defense forced a three-and-out. Starting from their own 11 with 2:12 left, their QB threw consecutive deep completions for 47 and 27 yds to get the 'Knights back in scoring position before their RB ran in for a 9-yd touchdown with 1:12 left on the clock.
Again, the Malfs recovered the 'Knights' onside kick and were held to a three-and-out but the 'Knights had only 36 seconds and no timeout left to cover 79 yds for the game-tying score. The game was over when a desparation lateral pass fell to the ground and was recovered by the Malfs.
The 'Knights lost the game during the 47-minute span between their first two scoring drives when they had five giveaways, a field-goal miss and two turnover on downs in opponents' territory.
For the first time in franchise history, the Malfs won consecutive games and finished the first half of the season with a winning record. While the Malfs find themselves in decent position in the playoff race, the 'Knights need some kind of a miracle to make it to the postseason.
