Regular-season game: Coaching mistakes cost the Malfs (25 February 2010)
Season I, week 3: igorz malfunxionistz 14, SimKonville Fraggles 16 (Final)The SimKonville Fraggles (1-2) shutout igorz malfunxionistz (1-2) in the final three quarters but needed a coaching mistake to pull out their first win of the season at Fraggle Rock.
Coming back from a 14-point deficit, the Fraggles went ahead 16-14 in the fourth quarter. With the final play of the game, the Malfs reached the Fraggles 36. But they forgot to call a timeout so time ran out before they could kick a potential game-winning field goal.
The Malfs had another controversial call early in the third quarter. Leading 14-10, they decided to go for it on 4th-and-8 from the opponents' 42. They failed to convert which led to the Seagulls' second FG.
The Fraggles' kicker connected only 3-of-6 attempts with misses from 46, 29 and 56 yds out. The Malfs' kicker missed his only attempts from 52 yds out.
The Malfs' RBs ran for 242 yds and scored a pair of TDs on their first two possession. The Fraggles' QB completed 12-of-16 for 201 yds and his teams' only TD cutting their deficit down to 10 two minutes before halftime.
Miscues on both sides contributed to a low-scoring game. In the first half, the Fraggles lost fumbles at the Malfs' 16 and 24 on consecutive possessions. The Malfs lost fumbles at the Fraggles' 38, 29, 7. No points were scored off turnovers. The Malfs had two punts blocked leading to the Fraggles' 10 first-half points.
