QFL launch NFL-Overtime Cup (24 July 2013)
The first edition of the NFL Overtime-Cup has been launched as part of the QFL Cup Series. The games of this competition will consist of an "overtime" played unter NFL postseason rules and regulations.Ten teams including current QFL Cup holders duffeldoffel's Reds will compete for the trophy. Among the contenders are four independent teams as well as the otherwise inactive QFL franchise Lübeck Bay Seagulls.
Karik's Saxy Boys and the Flash 80s are first-time contenders in the QFL Cup Series.
A draw was held to determine the pairings of the first two qualifying rounds of this double-elimination tournament. As six teams received a first-round bye, there are only two first-round matchups:
NFLOT I - QU-R1: Niners Sparrows 0, Buvag's Lawyers 6 (Final/8:36)
NFLOT I - QU-R1: frontmodes Kobras 6, Karik's Saxy Boys 0 (Final/5:00)
The winners will qualify for the qualifying quarterfinals (winners' bracket) while the loser gets their chance in the elimination rounds (losers' bracket).
The pairings of the qualifying quarterfinals will be:
Game 1: Flash 80s @ igorz malfunxionistz
Game 2: silentsound's Silentknights @ Niners Sparrows or Buvag's Lawyers
Game 3: duffeldoffel's Reds @ frontmodes Kobras or Karik's Saxy Boys
Game 4: Moderate Drinkers @ Lübeck Bay Seagulls
There will be no games held in the first elimination round as both first-round losers will receive a bye.
NFL-Overtime Cup I
