Cup game: 'Knights reach BWMC final (2 May 2013)

BWMC I - SF: silentsound's Silentknights 14, igorz malfunxionistz 7 (Final/19:48)

silentsound's Silentknights will play their first ever QFL Cup final after beating igorz malfunxionistz 14-7 in the Bill-Walsh-Memorial Cup semifinals.

The 'Knights had a 14-0 lead at the end of the 15-minute minimum but the Malfs' had an offensive possession under way and as the 'Knights had kicked off the game, the Malfs were also entitled to another defensive possession in case they would score a TD.

And they did so when their RB ran in from 4 yds out to cap a 10-play, 80-yd scoring drive.

An onside kick was not an option. By the special rules of this competition, the Malfs would have lost the game immediately, had they recovered their own onside kick as both teams would have had an equal number of opportunities to possess, then.

The Malfs' only chance to come back into the game was to force a turnover and return it for a TD. And as a matter of fact, on the second play of the possession, a defender did force a fumble recovered by a teammate at the 'Knights' 23-yd line.

The game was over when he failed to return it for a TD.

After forcing a three-and-out on the opening possession, the 'Knights drove 69 yds for the opening score. The 'Knights took 6:36 minutes from the clock with that 13-play drive capped with a 3-yd TD pass.

Both offenses then traded miscues when the Malfs' QB was picked off twice with a 'Knights' lost fumble in between before the 'Knights drove for their second TD, a 1-yd run at the end of a 47-yd drive.

After two road wins in the first two rounds, the 'Knights will have to travel again for the Cup final in which they will play either Cup holders duffeldoffel's Reds or the Moderate Drinkers.
