dieselz start 2-0zugschefz dieselz are the only team from the Australian Division to start the season 2-0 after beating division rivals igorz malfunxionistz (1-1) 26-16 at The Station.
The Malfs' QB was picked off three times on consecutive possessions in the first quarter setting up two TDs and a FG for the dieselz. The Malfs also had special-teams issues as they had to punts blocked. However, the first one gave them a break early in the second quarter when the Malfs recovered their own loose ball and advanced it 66 yds for a much needed TD.
The dieselz had their own special-teams issues as their kicker converted only 2-of-5 attempts. Misses from 47, 49 and 49 yds out allowed the Malfs' to hold out comeback hopes as their kicker scored from 31 yds out to make it a two-score game late in the third quarter.
But the dieselz never seemed to be in danger even though they scored no points in the second half. With a little less than three minutes to play, the Malfs scored on a 6 yds run but the game was over when they failed to run in the two-point conversion and then put the onside kick out-of-bounds.
The dieselz' QB completed 20-of-25 for 145 yds and a TD. The Malfs' QB finished the game with an abysmal 7.9 passer rating after completing only 7-of-20 for 79 yds and three picks.
