Recap

Moles bounce back to beat the Warriors

Their QB threw four TD passes as MoRe's Moles (3-2) beat the Prussian Warriors (2-3) 36-25 on the road to stay in the hunt for the playoff spots.

Both clubs had lost two straight games after starting 2-0 and the Warriors outgained their opposition by 58 yds but the Moles snapped their losing streak scoring 15 points off of their four forced turnovers while the Warriors registered no takeaway whatsoever.

The Moles opened the score on a 38-yd TD run early in the first quarter taking advantage of a fumble recovery but the Warriors replied with two successive scoring drives for over 50 yds each capped by a 45-yd FG and a 26-yd TD pass.

The Gothic Champions took a 10-7 lead into the second quarter but for the remainder of the first half, it was all the Moles. At first, their QB capped a quick 95-yd drive with a 5-yd TD pass. Key play of the drive was a 72-yd romp up to the 5-yd line from where the Moles needed two plays to find the end zone and reclaim the lead.

After forcing a three-and-out, the Moles drove 58 yds with 12 plays taking over six minutes from the clock. The Moles reached the 2-yd line with an 18-yd run before their QB found a receiver in the end zone to give the Moles a 21-10 halftime lead.

Ill-timed turnovers prevented the Warriors from closing the gap in the third quarter as their RB lost fumbles on successive carries. Having driven 61 yds up to the Moles' 2-yd line, the Warriors' RB was stopped in the backfield on 1st-and-Goal and then lost a fumble at the 4-yd line. The Warriors then forced a punt and had nice field position but their RB lost another fumble on the second play of the possession.

The Moles capitalized from the latter fumble when their QB finished a 64-yd drive with a 7-yd TD pass. Their RB ran in for the two-point conversion giving the Moles a 29-10 lead.

The Warriors hoped for a miraculous comeback when they cut their deficit down to 12 points with a stunning 69-yd TD pass play on 4th-and-18 but their onside kick went out-of-bounds and on the first play of the Moles' ensuing drive, their QB threw a 46-yd TD to restore the 19-point advantage.

The Warriors scored one more late TD when their RB ran in from 7 yds out but the Moles never really got in danger of losing their lead in the fourth quarter.

The Moles' RB finished the day with 37 carries for 226 yds and a score. Their QB completed 20-of-30 for 159 yds and four TDs with no picks. He had a francise-record 119.3 rating. Their defenders had four sacks while the Warriors' pass rushers managed to throw the Moles' passer only once.

Even after losing three straight games for the first time in franchise history, the Warriors can still reach the playoffs and win the division. They need to beat the Moderate Drinkers in their regular-season finale and a Moles' loss to silentsound's Silentknights.

The Moles need a win against the 'Knights and either a loss by the Drinkers or some help from the other games.
