Recap

From 0-2 to 3-2: Drinkers in first place

The stage was set for the first overtime game of the season when the Knights' kicker converted from 28 yds out to tie the game at 24 with 36 seconds on the clock. But on the first play after the kickoff, the Drinkers' RB ran 56 yds into the end zone to give the Moderate Drinkers (3-2) a 31-24 victory over silentsound's Silentknights.

A miraculous comeback bid with the final play of the game fell short when the seventh lateral pass finally fell to the ground and was recovered by the Drinkers. With the first six laterals extending a short pass play, the 'Knights had gone 43 yds before their lateralooza ended at the Drinkers' 26-yd line.

The Drinkers have accomplished a fantastic turnaround of their season winning three straight games and taking sole possession of first place in the Gothic Division after starting the season 0-2.

The Drinkers outgained the 'Knights by only a single yard but four turnovers forced to none committed made the difference even though the Drinkers scored only one FG off turnovers.

With the score tied at 21, the 'Knights RB lost a fumble near midfield late in the fourth quarter. Trailing by three points early in the fourth quarter, he lost another fumble just inside the Drinkers' half.

The 'Knights opened the score on their second play-from-scrimmage. A poor punt had given the 'Knights a short field, and the 'Knights QB set up his TD pass with a 35-yd completion to the 9-yd line.

The Drinkers scored 21 unanswered points with TD runs for 41, 39 and 4 yds and seemed to get the game under firm control. But the 'Knights' QB scored TD passes for 40 and 28 yds on the 'Knights final drive of the first half and their opening drive of the second half to tie the game at 21.

The Drinkers' RBs set team records with 241 yds and four TDs rushing. They also had four fumbles but none of which was recovered by the 'Knights.

The 'Knights QB set franchise records with 18 completions, 278 yds and a 126.8 rating. He had three TD passes and was picked off once.

While the 'Knights have been eliminated from playoff contention, the Drinkers control their own destiny. If they win their regular-season finale against the Prussian Warriors, they will reach the playoffs and win their division. If they lose, they will be out.
