Recap
'Knights got their first "W"Their QB threw three fourth-quarter TD passes as silentsound's Silentknights (1-3) got their first "W" of the season beating frontmodes Kobras (0-5) 38-10.
The Kobras have already played five games since they played their week-5 game during the anniversary festivities of 49ersFanZone.net.
In their last season's encounter, both teams let the fans wait 56:24 minutes for the opening score. This time, the 'Knights drew first blood after only 2:48 minutes when their RB ran in from 10 yds out. Their defense had set up that score with an interception returned for 25 yds to the Kobras' 10-yd line.
The 'Knights' RBs gained 225 yds and a score on 42 carries. They also had four fumbles of which only one was lost.
The Kobras' QB had both of his first two passing attempts intercepted but the Kobras got away with their second turnover as their defense forced a three-and-out on the 'Knights' ensuing possession. The Kobras' QB finished the game with 8-of-16 for 70 yds and a pair of picks.
The 'Knights' QB had a stellar performance completing 16-of-24 for 161 yds and a franchise-record four TDs. It was his first game with multiple TDs in his career and he had a career-high rating of 125.2.
His first TD came with the second play after a blocked Kobras fumble. He set up his 12-yd scoring pass with a 15-yd completion on the first play of the possession.
Four of the Kobras' first five possessions ended with turnovers and a blocked punt. In between, they scored their only first-half points on a 41-yd field goal at the end of a 7-play, 38-yd drive which remained their longest possession of the game.
The 'Knights defense sent the Kobras' offense off the field without a new first down on six of their twelve possessions. After their field goal, the Kobras never got more than two first downs before surrendering the ball.
The Kobras scored their only TD on a 40-yd blocked-punt return late in the third quarter to cut their deficit down to seven points. However, the 'Knights responded with the longest drive of the game, a 10-play, 80-yd scoring drive capped by a 5-yd TD pass.
The 'Knights QB threw two more TD passes within the last four minutes of the game drawing the anger of the Kobras' head coach who smelt the scent of running-up-the-score.
Both teams entered the game being 0-3 at midseason but unlike the 'Knights, the Kobras still had a slim mathematical chance to make the playoffs. Last season, the Kobras missed the playoffs because of a 10-0 loss against the 'Knights in their regular-season finale and they have not won a game ever since.
The Kobras have no chance to leave last place in the Gothic Division for the remainder of the season and are one loss away from an anti-perfect season.
The 'Knights still have slim playoff hopes but a return to the QFL all-star game to represent their division might be a more realistic goal.
