Recap

Warriors win streak ends on the road

The Prussian Warriors' (2-1) seven-game regular-season win streak ended at the Green Dungeon where they lost 44-26 to the Dicey Beasts (2-1). It was the very first loss in a road game for the reigning Gothic Division champions and their first regular-season defeat since last season's opener.

The Warriors opened the score when the Beasts had to punt after going three-and-out with their first possession. The Warriors' return man fielded the punt near midfield and ran 56 yds into the end zone. Unfortunately for the Warriors, he also played a key role in the Beasts' first TD when he fumbled the kick return after a Beasts field goal. The Beasts immediately capitalized returning the fumble 23 yds to take the lead for the first time.

The two teams changed the lead five times before halftme. After the Warriors had reclaimed the lead on a 23-yd field goal, the Beasts drove 77 yds with their first possession of the second quarter. They capped the drive with a 29-yd TD play during which they recovered and advanced their own fumble from the 2-yd line for the score.

The Warriors struck right back with a 60-yd TD drive capped by a 3-yd scoring run but on their ensuing possession, the Beasts reclaimed the lead for good when they finished a 70-yd drive with a 21-yd TD pass plus two-point conversion to take a 24-17 lead into the locker room.

The Warriors opted for an onside kick to open the second half but the kick was recovered by the Beasts. With their second play, their RB romped 47 yds into the end zone. On their next possession, the Beasts extended their lead on their second field goal.

However, the Gothic champions seemed unimpressed and replied with a 66-yd TD pass with the first play of their ensuing possession and a 50-yd field goal capitalizing from a Beasts fumble.

But it was another miscue by their return man that ruined their comeback bid when he fumbled a punt near the goal line. Although the Warriors defense found the right moment to register their only sack on second-and-goal, they were not able to stop the Beasts' RB from scoring from 18 yds out on third-and-goal.

The Beasts defense excelled with two interceptions and four sacks, among them an 8-yd sack on the first play of the Warriors' next possession, thus contributing to a three-and out. A few minutes later, the Beasts put a lid on the score with a 36-yd field goal.
