Recap

Beagles fill up Drinkers

Their quarterback threw a QFL record five touchdown passes as the Mighty Beagles of Angedair celebrated a 51-14 blowout win over the Moderate Drinkers at Beagle Park.

The legal successors of the SimKonville Fraggles looked nothing like last season's 1-5 team and made an impressive first bid to become this season's most improved team after crushing the QFL expansion team by a QFL-record margin of 37 points.

When the Drinkers scored their first touchdown in franchise history early in the second quarter of their QFL debut cutting the Beagles' first-quarter lead in half, hardly anyone anticipated that things would turn out that nasty. But after a blocked punt recovered in the endzone for a touchdown, the game went downhill quickly for the Drinkers and the Beagles went on to score 34 unanswered points within 20 minutes.

The Beagles' quarterback had thrown only three TD passes for the Fraggles last season and it took him only 26 minutes to double his career TD output. He completed 16-of-22 for 148 yds and threw short TD passes for 1, 3, 1, 2 and 4 yds. He had one of his passes picked off and finished the game with a passer rating of 111.4.

After the season opener, the Beagles have scored almost half as many points as in the entire last season when they scored a total of 106 points in six games tying igorz malfunxionistz for the league's lowest output.

The Fraggles' dicision to merge with would-be expansion franchise Maxtown Peanuts appears to turn out a good one as the game was practically over at halftime when the Beagles led 31-7.

The Drinkers seemed to gain early momentum when they recovered a fumble at the end of the Beagles' first possession but they failed to capitalize. Instead, the Beagles took a 14-point lead late in the first quarter with their QB's first two TD passes within only 84 seconds capitalizing from the Drinkers' first interception in between.

The Drinkers' quarterback was intercepted four times and 27 points off-turnovers allowed were too much to handle for the unexperienced expansion team whose running back scored a second consolation touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
