Recap

Reds follow dieselz to the Fever Bowl

duffeldoffel's Reds beat the Dicey Beasts by a score of 29-10 in an all-Australian-division semi final at Stanley Park to clinch a spot in the inaugural Fever Bowl.

The Beasts had hoped to take revenge for their regular-season loss to the Reds when they fell behind 24-0 at halftime and then showed considerable improvements in the second half without coming close to a comeback. This time, the Reds stormed ahead 23-0 at halftime and again - thanks to their defense - never really got in danger.

The Reds' defense allowed the Beasts' #1 offense only 80 yds and more than made up for their offensive red-zone struggles. The Reds' quarterback threw for 283 yds and a pair of touchdowns but was also picked off in the end zone. Their running backs had an average of 4,7 yds per run but also lost a red-zone fumble. Their defenders registered five sacks and two fumble recoveries. Their kicker converted five-of-six field-goal attempts.

After being completely shut down in the first half, the Beasts scored an early touchdown on a 54-yd run and were at least on a par with the Reds in the second half. However, their first-half deficit again proved to be too much to overcome against the Reds' defense.

The Beasts' defenders registered four sacks and three takeaways but their offense failed to score off turnovers. Their quarterback was held to 22 yds and in spite of their long TD run, their running backs remained under 100 yds. Their punter placed three-of-six punts in the red zone including a punt for a QFL-record 76 net yards in the second quarter.
