Malfs finish the season on a high noteigorz malfunxionistz (2-4) snapped their four-game losing streak with a 17-14 overtime win against Australian Division champion duffeldoffel's Reds (4-2) at the breakdown dome.
The Malfs failed to recover their own onside kick to open the overtime and the Reds had a fake-punt pass falling 1 yd short before the Malfs kicker scored the game-winning FG from 28 yds out with 7:36 minutes left in overtime. During regulation he had missed from 44 and 40 yds out.
The Malfs' QB completed 9-of-17 for 142 yds and a TD and had a 100.6 passer rating. Taking advantage of the only turnover of the game, he scored on a 41-yd pass early in the second quarter to give his team a 7-3 lead. In overtime, he setup the game-winner with a 51-yd completion.
With their next possession, the Malfs' scored their other TD, a 2-yd TD run, before the Reds scored their only TD on a 9-yd TD pass and tied the game on a two-point conversion run with 1:12 left in the first half. Both teams failed to score in the second half.
While the Malfs' finish a disappointing campaign on a high note, the Reds who had already clinched the Australian Division title last week hope to return to the breakdown dome as soon as in two weeks when the first ever Fever Bowl will be held there. They will host the Dicey Beasts in their divisional playoff game.
