Recap

Reds are back-to-back QFL Cup winners

duffeldoffel's Reds are the first team to successfully defend the QFL Cup after beating silentsound's Silentknights 9-0 in the Bill-Walsh-Memorial Cup final.

It was the third time in as many participations that the Reds won a QFL Cup tournament. The Prussian Warriors are the only other team that have won a QFL Cup.

The 'Knights' offense started with a three-and-out into their first ever cup final and their defense appeared to do likewise. But their special team was not prepared for the fake as the Reds' punter threw a 25-yd completion on 4th-and-16 from inside their own half.

Their punter turned out the Reds' leading passer as their QB finished the game with 3-of-6 for zero yards.

Three plays later, the 'Knights again appeared to have stopped the Reds, but on 4th-and-7 near midfield, the Reds' RB broke through for 15 yds to keep the drive alive. Five plays later, he ran in from 3 yds out to give the Reds a 6-0 lead with eight minutes played. (The extra-point attempt was blocked.)

The Reds' RB had 15 carries for 98 yds averaging 6.5 yds per carry.

On their second possession, the 'Knights got two new first downs before they decided to go for it on 4th-and-8 from their own 38-yd line. However, their RB was stopped before reaching the first-down marker.

Taking over at the 'Knights 43 with 4:48 minutes of minimum playing time left, the Reds let the game clock run down completely while reaching the 1-yd line before their kicker split the uprights to finish the game.
